UPCOMING EVENTS
Come celebrate the “Merry Month of May”

MAY 6, 2011: Friday, 7:30 p.m.
NILS PETERSON & ELENA SHARKOVA with the Symphony Silicon Valley Singers at Montalvo Arts Center

The month of ‘yes you may,’
The time for ev’ry frivolous whim,
Proper or “im.”

A.J. Lerner

Come celebrate the “Merry Month of May” with Silicon Valley Poet Laureate Emeritus Nils Peterson, Maestra Elena Sharkova and the Symphony Silicon Valley Singers in a program of poetry and song honoring spring! Nils Peterson is Professor Emeritus at SJSU where he also served as Chair of the Humanities Department. His writing is delightfully humorous, shedding light on the human condition in surprising ways. His collections include The Comedy of Desire, and a Christmas series with the title, For This Day. In 2009, Peterson was chosen as the first Poet Laureate of Santa Clara County.

Under the direction of founder Elena Sharkova, the Symphony Silicon Valley Singers was formed three years ago to explore the more intimate music of the choral repertoire. Sharkova, the conductor of the Symphony Silicon Valley Chorale and the Cantabile Youth Singers of Silicon Valley, is in great demand internationally as a conductor, lecturer, master teacher and interpreter of Russian music.
